PERSONAL BRANDS OPPORTUNITIES AND THREATS OF AT T3PR TECHNOLOGY PR CONFERENCE WITH ED SCHIPUL

HOUSTON, June 8. 2010 – Schipul – The Web Marketing Company (www.schipul.com), a Web marketing, design and software company, announced that CEO Ed Schipul will present “Personal Brands: The Opportunities and Threats,” at the upcoming T3PR Conference 2010. Presented by the Public Relations Society of America’s Technology Section, Schipul’s presentation will discuss the business case for encouraging employees to develop personal brands.

“Social technologies enable employees to create their own brands and many organizations are struggling to adapt,” said Schipul. “What we have discovered is that personal brands can be disruptive to the status quo of many companies, but if encouraged and supported appropriately, they can reflect positively on an organization and contribute to a company’s profitability.”

Schipul will encourage T3PR participants, who provide PR support to technology companies around the world, to take responsibility for personal brand management within their organizations. Instead of focusing only on the CEO, companies can benefit from encouraging virtually every employee to develop a personal brand that is distinct, yet supportive of the corporate brand.

This year, Schipul has been spreading the personal branding gospel to public relations pros across the country. His article, “Recruit and Retain the Best Talent: Why companies Should Encourage Personal Brands,” was published in The Public Relations Strategist. In recent weeks, he was a keynote speaker at PRSA Georgia’s Annual Conference and led a discussion on personal branding at PRSA’s Travel and Tourism Conference. His plenary session at T3PR 2010 begins at 10:45 a.m.

“This is the time to embrace change and adapt, and technology PR pros should lead the way,” said Schipul. “As was the case with social media tools, organizations that resist will miss the opportunity to profit from their employees’ personal brands and will spend the rest of the decade playing catch-up.”

Schipul – The Web Marketing Company Schipul provides social media consulting, search engine marketing, Web design and blog design services. The company develops and markets Tendenci® online management software, which powers hundreds of Web sites for organization around the world.

T3PR 2010 will be held June 11th at Concierge Conference Center in New York City. Registration information is available at www.prsa.org/Conferences/Technology/.

Social Media Specialist Ed Schipul to Present “Uncommon Storytelling” to PRSA Gulfstream Chapter

FORT LAUDERDALE, April 20, 2009 – Social media tools have become essential for public relations professionals, but many still wonder how to get the greatest positive impact from these technologies. Social media and Web marketing specialist Ed Schipul, CEO of Schipul – The Web Marketing Company (www.schipul.com) will present, “Uncommon Storytelling: Putting the Relations Back Into Public Relations with Social Media,” at this week’s Public Relations Society of America Gulfstream Chapter luncheon.

Schipul will discuss how to leverage social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube to accelerate PR success. He will also reveal the dos and don’ts of participating in online conversations.

“Virtually every week we see examples of companies that make serious mistakes or miss opportunities because they don’t understand the rules of engagement in the online environment,” said Schipul.

He points to Dominos Pizza as an example of an organization that was slow to embrace social media and paid the price for it. When videos were posted on YouTube showing Dominos employees doing disgusting things with food, Dominos kept a low profile, which hurt the company’s reputation.

“Hoping nobody is going to notice when potentially harmful conversations are happening online is a recipe for disaster,” said Schipul. “The good news is that used strategically, social media can help to create deeper and more meaningful connections between brands and their communities.”

Schipul’s presentation is scheduled for noon, Thursday, April 23, 2009 at JM Family Enterprises in Deerfield Beach. Advance registration is $20 for PRSA members and $30 for non-members. For more information, visit www.prsagulfstream.org.

About Schipul - The Web Marketing Company

Tendenci's story is intertwined with Schipul - The Web Marketing Company. In 1997, Ed Schipul quit his fulltime job as a software consultant for a large petroleum corporation and started his own web marketing company. Armed with a Political Science degree from Texas A&M, a background in programming and a fascination with social trends, Ed and his wife Rachel Schipul - started building web sites that helped people communicate. Years of custom requests from his nonprofit clients led to the initial construction of Tendenci, a platform of tools that most organizations need, or could use, to increase both their communciation and revenue streams. Read more about Ed Schipul.

In 2004, Tendenci received its official name and was sold by Schipul to clients around the world, filling a need for affordable membership management and association website marketing software. Other membership software applications were either too costly, too technical or not robust enough to manage the complex transactions for membership management, email marketing, event management, and donations management. Tendenci was developed to solve these problems and provide a simpler, better, and cheaper solution.

In 2012, Tendenci was released as an open source AMS SaaS product to extend its reach even further, allowing developers around the world the ability to download and build on the Tendenci platform. In November 2013, Schipul officially changed its name to Tendenci to focus on the expansion of the software and the developer community. No clients were harmed in the making of this move - Schipul remains as a professional service division of Tendenci, assisting nonprofits with marketing design and effective web site strategies.

Tendenci® Software Powers New Interactive Website for Federal Flight Deck Officers Association

The ability to rapidly exchange information and ideas is essential for securing commercial airliners. With the help of the Houston-based software programmers who developed Tendenci (www.tendenci.com) association management software, the Web is playing a major role in enabling greater collaboration and making our skies safer. The Federal Flight Deck Officers Association (FFDOA) has selected Tendenci to power its new interactive Web site, www.ffdoa.org.

Federal Flight Deck Officers (FFDOs) are pilots who have volunteered to be deputized Federal Law Enforcement Officers. They play a vital role in securing commercial airliners – and in particular the cockpit – from terrorist and criminal assault. The nature of the FFDO’s mission is so sensitive that much of the organization’s Web site is restricted to members only and the members are required to keep their identities secret. Communication between members was a challenge and this secure forum allows FFDOs to exchange mission critical information providing a crucial benefit for the flying public, commerce and the national transportation infrastructure.

“We selected Tendenci as the platform for our Web site because it delivered the comprehensive security we needed, while still providing ease-of-use for collaboration and membership management,” said the Director of Communication with the FFDOA whose name must remain confidential. “We have members spread around the country, so it is hard to communicate while keeping our identities confidential.  The Tendenci package is an essential component in enhancing our ability to protect the national air transportation system.”

Tendenci is developed by Schipul – The Web Marketing Company (www.schipul.com), a leading provider of Web-based solutions for membership organizations. Schipul also designed FFDOA’s Web site, which features an extensive member’s area with forums for pilots and instructors, instructions for handling emergencies, information about insurance and an online store.

Tendenci association management software is a comprehensive Web site solution that helps associations improve their operations online, increase visibility through search engines, attract members and get them involved.

Schipul Congratulates Houston Zoo for Web Site Honors at AMA Crystal Awards

Site Design was Team Effort by Schipul – The Web Marketing Company
and Houston Zoo’s Marketing Department

HOUSTON, May 28, 2008 – Schipul – The Web Marketing Company (www.schipul.com), a Web marketing and Web design company based in Houston, is celebrating a pair of awards won by the Houston Zoo for its Web site. The Houston Chapter of the American Marketing Association awarded the Houston Zoo a Crystal Award in the Web site – Non–profit category. The Zoo’s Web site and overall Web marketing strategy was recognized with an additional Crystal Award in the Maverick category as a favorite of the judges.

A panel of eight judges, all marketing professionals from outside the Houston area, evaluated a record number of entries. They assessed the success of marketing initiatives based on the challenge, objectives, strategy and results.

Launched a year ago the Houston Zoo’s Web site, www.houstonzoo.org, was designed by Schipul in coordination with the Zoo’s Marketing Department. The site is powered by the Tendenci® (www.tendenci.com) Web marketing application, which is developed and marketed by Schipul.

“We are proud of our ongoing relationship with the Houston Zoo and especially happy that our efforts contributed to generating measurable results,” said Ed Schipul, president and chief executive officer with Schipul – The Web Marketing Company. “Getting a special recognition as a favorite of the judges says a great deal about the creativity of the thinking and quality of the execution.”

Attracting 1.5 million visitors each year and home to more than 4,500 animals in over 200 exhibits, the Houston Zoo encourages appreciation, knowledge, and care for the natural world. The Zoo’s Web site brings that world to life online through subtle animation that has a three-dimensional quality and creates a lush look and feel. The site incorporates interactive tools, such as podcasts, really simple syndication (RSS) feeds, online event registration and online membership sign-up, renewal and upgrade.

Ed Schipul to Help Nonprofit Organizations Leverage the Power of Social Media at 2008 South by Southwest Interactive Festival

I'll Share Best Practices as Moderator of “Pimp My Nonprofit” Panel Discussion

HOUSTON, February 25. 2008 – How can a typical nonprofit organization spread its message without busting its budget? Ed Schipul, CEO of Schipul – The Web Marketing Company (www.schipul.com), believes the latest Social Media technologies can play an important role for organizations that understand how to safely and effectively harness their power. Schipul will moderate the panel, “Pimp My Non-Profit,” at the 2008 South by Southwest Interactive Festival (SXSW) next month in Austin.

Schipul will be joined by panelists to discuss the latest Web-based social media technologies that nonprofit organizations are utilizing for fundraising and promotion of social causes. The panel consists of innovative social change experts, including Erin Denny, Senior Product Manager, YouthNoise Initiatives, Michaela Hackner, Girls with Macs and World Learning, Beth Kanter, www.bethkanter.org, and Rachel Weidinger, Strategy for Social Entrepreneurs and NetSquared.

“Social media has enabled rapid response at a relatively low cost for nonprofits online,” said Schipul. “By ‘pimp your nonprofit,’ we mean leveraging new media tools to create best of class bottom line results. Most nonprofits have two bottom lines – one for the financials and one for the organization’s mission, both of which can benefit from strategic use of social media technologies and techniques.”

The panel discussion will offer a forum for evaluation of technological strategies, case study successes and failures and an opportunity to obtain feedback and ideas from the audience. It is scheduled Monday, March 10th at 1:30 p.m. at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas.
SXSW Interactive attracts innovators and offers a venue for their projections on the newest trends in technology. Panels focus on how technology facilitates new ideas, communication and creativity in diverse digital and social applications.

Schipul – The Web Marketing Company serves associations around the world with the Tendenci Web marketing software (www.tendenci.com). Using Tendenci can make a nonprofit organization’s Web site an integral part of its operations by automating many time-consuming functions such as membership data management, event registration, e-newsletters and advocacy updates.

The 2008 South by Southwest Interactive Festival will be held March 7-11, 2008 at the Austin Convention Center at 500 East Cesar Chavez in Austin, Texas. Registration information for the event is available at http://2008.sxsw.com/register_to_attend.
