The Children's Assessment Center of Houston Releases New Mobile Tendenci Website

The Children's Assessment Center of Houston launches new Website as Part of Major Expansion of Services

HOUSTON, October 5, 2016
–Tendenci (https://www.tendenci.com), the software development company spearheading the Tendenci Open Source platform, is pleased to release a newly-designed, mobile-responsive website for The Children's Assessment Center of Houston, a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of child sexual abuse and the healing of abuse victims. The website, https://www.cachouston.org/, provides information about the many services offered by CAC Houston, how to recognize and report child abuse, and information on ways to support their ongoing efforts to help Houston's children.

From the CAC Houston website:

The Children's Assessment Center (CAC) provides a safe haven to sexually abused children and their families - a place where they can receive the kind of care and treatment they so richly deserve.

We employ an extraordinarily effective multidisciplinary team approach in the prevention, assessment, investigation, referral for prosecution and treatment of child sexual abuse. Our goal is to promote the complete healing of child victims of sexual abuse and their families.

Tendenci Open Source was released as an open source solution to give organizations greater freedom and control over their online presence. Working directly in the browser with a user-friendly interface, the caring staff at CAC Houston can update the content, images, documents, forms and site layout as they continue to offer new services, launch expanded programs and pursue fund-raising efforts.

Mobile-responsive design was a driving factor for making changes to the layout as well as ugrading to the latest version of the Tendenci software. The Tendenci upgrade includes many new software features in addition to the stability and security of the upgraded infrastructure.

Focusing on the Capital Campaign was a central part of this project as the Children's Assessment Center works to complete a large, new facility to expand their community training programs for identification, reporting and prevention of child abuse. Reaching donors is an ongoing project for the development team as they seek to fund this campaign as well as support the wide breadth of services available to Houston-area children. The new website employs an engaging, mobile-friendly interface that explains the multitude of ways these donations make a difference, in addition to providing an immediate opportunity to donate online.

The modern responsive design combined with Tendenci's built-in SEO features boosts search engine placement, making it easier for those needing these services or wanting to support the organization to reach the CAC of Houston

Tendenci has more than 1 million users and currently powers hundreds of websites for organizations around the world, including the DePelchin's Children Center (www.depelchin.org), the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (www.dbsahouston.org), and Main Street Ministries (www.msministries.org).

Susan G. Komen Houston and Tendenci® Website Partnership Results in Top Affiliate Ranking Worldwide

Tendenci Open Source CMS Platform Engages Community in Mission, Funding

Komen Houston Tendenci WebsiteHOUSTON, March 11, 2014 – When Susan G. Komen Houston was ready to design a custom website with great design and functionality, it turned to the Tendenci Open Source Content Management System (www.tendenci.com). Komen Houston credits the change to Tendenci Open Source CMS with helping the organization to generate revenue, maintain participation in events and to showcase its efforts in eradicating breast cancer and supporting those battling the disease.

"We decided that if we are going to be an extraordinary affiliate, we needed an extraordinary website – something unique to our seven county service area," said Adriana M. Higgins, executive director of Komen Houston, an affiliate of the international Susan G. Komen® organization.

Susan G. Komen recently named Komen Houston its No. 1 affiliate among 125 affiliates worldwide for the 2012-2013 fiscal year – the first full year its website was powered by Tendenci. Komen Houston topped the categories of overall revenue, highest Race for the Cure® revenue and highest in funds spent on the mission programs during 2013.

"Because the website is so important for donations, event promotion and telling our story, we save on marketing and advertising," Higgins said. "We rely on the website to get our mission message out so that the community understands who we are, what we do and how they will make an impact if they support Komen Houston."

Tendenci's reports show more than 450,000 views of pages on the Komen Houston website in 2013, 30 percent of which came from mobile devices. Photos were the most popular content, highlighting Komen Houston's volunteers and the positive impact the organization has on the community. More than 2,000 contact forms were submitted via the website by sponsors, volunteers and other supporters.

"Tendenci's reports enable us to visualize trends and analyze data from the site to ensure users are finding information they need," Higgins said. "Having these insights into user behavior guides our decisions in adjusting website content to encourage donations and other desired outcomes."

The simplicity of Tendenci's ongoing maintenance is also a critical factor. Komen Houston staff can easily update the site with news about upcoming events, testimonials and survivor stories, research findings and photos showing Komen Houston in action at events such as the annual Race for the Cure®.

Tendenci Open Source CMS was released as an open source solution to give cause-related organizations greater freedom and control over their online presence. Tendenci has more than 1 million users and currently powers hundreds of websites for organizations around the world, including Metropolitan New York Library Council (www.metro.org), Houston Technology Center (www.houstontech.org) and Depelchin™ Children's Center (www.depelchin.org).

Rice University’s Baker Institute Selects Tendenci® Open Source CMS

Baker-Institute.pngHOUSTON, October 15, 2013 – Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy, one of the premier nonpartisan public policy think tanks in the country, has kicked its visibility efforts into high gear by launching a dynamic new website, http://bakerinstitute.org/, powered by Tendenci (www.tendenci.com), the open source Content Management System (CMS) for cause-related organizations. The goal of the upgrade was to redefine how the Web can be used to connect the work of think tank researchers to the array of outcomes of their work – and tie it all back to real time events percolating around the globe.

The website, featuring more than 1,000 pieces of research, 800 videos and hundreds of events, was designed and developed by Schipul – the Web Marketing Company (www.schipul.com).

“We are looking to make a bold statement, build awareness and ensure our online presence conveys to the world how strong the work is that we do,” said Ryan Kirksey, director of operations and finance with Rice University’s Baker Institute. “As an open source solution, this platform gives us freedom to develop and maintain the site however we choose.”

The Baker Institute leverages many of Tendenci CMS’ unique capabilities. The organization can manage and organize website content without having to go through a third party, and Tendenci has built-in automatic search engine optimization features. The site also includes donation and fundraising management that makes it easy for users to contribute financially, online event management that enables the Baker Institute to quickly and easily add events to the online calendar, allow registration, take payment and access registrant information.

The new website also includes rich media management to make it easy to upload, view and search photos and videos, and responsive design to ensure users have a consistent and positive experience regardless of the device they use to access the site.

“Tendenci offered us a platform to feature our multimedia in a way that is both visually pleasing and functional,” said Kirksey. “We do more than 100 events per year, each of which is streamed online and then archived for on-demand playback, along with photos. The new website makes all this accessible to those who can’t come here to Houston to see what we do.”

Tendenci was released as an open source CMS to give cause-related organizations, including NPOs and associations, greater freedom and control over their online presence. Tendenci has more than 1 million users and powers hundreds of websites for nonprofit organizations and associations around the world, including Metropolitan New York Library Council (www.metro.org), Houston Technology Center (www.houstontech.org) and DePelchin Children's Center (www.depelchin.org).

Schipul to Offer Online Fundraising Tips at 2013 Nonprofit Technology Conference

NTC Panel - Level Up Your Online Fundraising

Presentation to examine the psychology of why people donate

HOUSTON, April 9, 2013 – A team from Schipul Technologies, (www.schipul.com), an open source software development company and creators of the Tendenci open source CMS for nonprofit organizations (NPOs), will present, “Level Up Your Fundraising: Understanding the Psychology of What Makes People Donate,” at the 2013 Nonprofit Technology Conference. The presentation will focus on the challenge of engaging website visitors and motivating them to take action – whether through online donations, event registration, membership signup, or any of the many types of online transactions available on NPO websites.

The 2013 Nonprofit Technology Conference will bring together nonprofit professionals from around the world to collaborate, innovate and maximize effectiveness using various technology tools. The event is organized by the Nonprofit Technolgy Network (NTEN). Schipul’s speakers will include Vice President of Professional Services, Aaron Long, Marketing Manager Caitlin Kaluza, and Tendenci Community Curator Sarah Worthy.

Online giving increased nearly 11 percent in 2012 compared to 2011, but it still represents less than 10 percent of total fundraising revenue. The Schipul team will offer easily implemented tips for nonprofits to accelerate growth in online fundraising.

“Successful nonprofits need more than a website and social media profiles, they need the information site visitors are seeking, in a format they can navigate, and they must present information in a way that prompts visitors to take action,” said Long. “We will discuss some of the common mistakes made by many nonprofits that make it difficult for supporters to donate online, and we’ll offer seven tips for using psychology in online marketing to increase online fundraising.”

Research from Nielsen Norman Group found that it is harder to give money to nonprofit organizations than it is to spend money shopping online. Completing the donation process online took users in their study seven percent longer on average than it took users to complete an e-commerce checkout process. A separate study found that in 17 percent of the nonprofit websites evaluated, users could not find where to make a donation.

The Schipul team will present, “Level Up Your Fundraising: Understanding the Psychology of What Makes People Donate,” at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13th. The 2013 Nonprofit Technology Conference runs April 11 – 13 at the Minneapolis Hilton and Minnesota Convention Center in Minneapolis.

World Class Learning Schools operates schools in Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Houston, New York, Washington, DC, Madrid and in Qatar. The upgraded Tendenci websites will make it possible for each World Class Learning School to add and edit dynamic content on their website.
