Support of complex membership structures was one of the key reasons Tendenci was selected for this project. GRAC allows both individuals and organizations to join as members. Organizational members are then allowed to have a determined number of individuals join GRAC at a free or discounted price as part of the organization's memberships. As long at the organization stays active within GRAC, their members continue to enjoy the perks of GRAC membership. Recognizing the value of allowing organizations to join has had a definite impact on the overall number of association members.

GRAC also utilized many of other Tendenci features to set up a Job Board with open positions of interest to members, posted Events on the association calendar and uploaded Photo Albums highlighting their members.

Having a mobile-responsive website was definitely a big concern for GRAC with both the design and the software functionality as use of mobile devices is expanding exponentially. The new website is easily navigated on all devices, making it easy for members to look up event details or update their profile at their convenience.

Tendenci has more than 1 million users and currently powers hundreds of websites for organizations around the world, including the Society of Petroleum Engineers - Gulf Coast Section (www.spegcs.org), the American Citizens Abroad organization (www.americansabroad.org), and the San Francisco Bay Area Innovation Group (www.sfbig.org).

Tendenci Helps Night Stalkers Association Take Aim at Membership Management Success

Tendenci® Open Source CMS Platform Powers Website for Nonprofit War Veterans Organization

NSA-Website.jpgHOUSTON, May 20, 2014 – The Night Stalker Association, a non-profit organization (NPO) devoted to soldiers of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) and their families, has partnered with Tendenci (www.tendenci.com) to launch a different type of air offensive. Their upgraded website, http://www.nsa160.com, powered by the Tendenci® Open Source Content Management System (CMS), is aimed at increasing visibility, boosting membership and improving connections among its members.

“We are very proud that Tendenci is being used to support our military, both active and retired, by powering the new website for the Night Stalker Association,” said Ed Schipul, founder and president of Tendenci, the software development company spearheading the Tendenci Open Source CMS project. “The Night Stalker Association is a great example of how NPOs use Tendenci to advance their mission through increased visibility and revenue, and improved connections online.”

Tendenci Open Source CMS is built to meet the unique needs of associations and other NPOs. The Night Stalker Association’s new website takes advantage of many of Tendenci’s distinctive capabilities, including membership management, donor and fundraising management, online event management and rich media management. Since the upgraded website launched, the Night Stalker Association has reconnected with alumni, experienced a notable increase in membership and generated tens of thousands of dollars in incremental revenue.

“As soon as we flipped the switch on the Tendenci website, the Night Stalker Association jumped to a higher level of professionalism and efficiency,” said Vincent Reap, President of the Night Stalker Association. “As a volunteer-managed organization, keeping membership records updated had been a challenge. With Tendenci, our members can easily update their own data, which takes an enormous burden off our shoulders. Moving to an online application and payment process has fundamentally changed for the better the way we operate.”

The new website uses Tendenci’s donor and fundraising management to make online giving simple and uses Tendenci’s business directory capability to feature sponsoring organizations, such as Boeing, Cruz Associates Inc., Envisioneering Inc., Lockheed Martin and Rockwell Collins. These donations and sponsorships enable the Night Stalker Association to provide financial support to the soldiers and families of the 160th, including a scholarship program.

With Tendenci’s online event management and rich media management the Night Stalker Association can promote, manage and accept online payment for upcoming fundraising events, and then quickly and easily upload photos from events to an integrated photo gallery.

Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans Launches Upgraded Website Powered by Tendenci® CMS Platform

Content Management System purpose-built for nonprofits provides "absolute control"

AAMA.jpgHOUSTON, June 25, 2013 – The Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans (AAMA), which inspires and empowers at-risk Latinos to pursue their potential and achieve success, today announced the launch of its upgraded website, https://www.aama.org. The site is powered by Tendenci (www.tendenci.com), the open source Content Management System (CMS) for nonprofit organizations (NPOs).

To give NPOs such as AAMA greater control over their online presence, Tendenci CMS was released as an open source product last year. AAMA's upgraded website was designed by Schipul - The Web Marketing Company (www.schipul.com), a leading Web marketing and software development company based in Houston.

"With Tendenci, we have absolute control over all our content – from the rotator on the home page to way events are promoted," said Kathryn Butcher, vice president, public relations with AAMA. "We want to encourage frequent visits from people who care about at-risk Latinos, so the new website is dynamic and designed to be updated frequently. We are very pleased."

Like many nonprofit organization websites, the AAMA site needs to interact with multiple audiences without being confusing or overly complicated. In addition to the main website that provides information to volunteers, financial contributors and others interested in helping Latinos become productive contributors, the upgrade included the development of a subsidiary site for AAMA's Sanchez Charter School, which provides critical information to current and prospective students and their families.

"It was essential that the website make it easy for the school staff to take ownership of their own content without sacrificing consistency with the main AAMA site in terms of branding or how the story is told," said Butcher. "The Schipul team came up with a good solution that ensures the school site can focus on things that matter to the school community and the main AAMA site can focus on the overall mission of the organization."

The website features prominent buttons encouraging visitors to donate and to sign up for AAMA's newsletter. It utilizes Tendenci's calendar event management capabilities to promote and manage registration and payment (when applicable) for upcoming events. The upgraded website also features digital media management package that makes it easy for the association to upload and share photos as well as a job board for posting positions and easily searching for listed jobs.

Tendenci CMS has more than 1 million users and currently powers hundreds of websites for nonprofit organizations and associations around the world, including Metropolitan New York Library Council (www.metro.org), Houston Technology Center (www.houstontech.org) and Komen Houston (www.komen-houston.org).

Houston Public Library Foundation Selects Tendenci® CMS Platform to Power New Website

Showcases support for the Houston Public Library through advocacy, fundraising

Tendenci Powers HPLF Nonprofit WebsiteHOUSTON, January 29, 2013 – The Houston Public Library Foundation (HPLF) has launched a dynamic website powered by Tendenci (www.tendenci.com), the open source Content Management System for nonprofit organizations (NPOs), which makes it easier than ever for Houstonians to support the Houston Public Library. The new website, www.houstonlibraryfoundation.org, was designed by Schipul - The Web Marketing Company (www.schipul.com), a leading Web marketing and software development company based in Houston.

HPLF is a 501(c)(3) organization focused on increasing the Houston community’s awareness of the vital role our Houston Public Library plays in its quality of life. Featuring large, colorful photographs that depict how HPLF supports the Houston Public Library through advocacy and fundraising, the new website uses Tendenci’s broad range of capabilities to promote upcoming events and sponsorship opportunities, recruit volunteers and encourage online donations. The organization also uses Tendenci’s integrated digital media management package to organize, collect and share photos of HPLF’s activities.

“Previously, our Web presence consisted of a single page on the Houston Public Library website, which didn’t provide the platform we needed to engage the community, encourage donations and showcase how we use funds to advance the Library’s mission,” said Maya Houston, executive director of HPLF. “The team at Schipul did a great job of visually capturing and presenting what the foundation is all about and Tendenci CMS makes it easy to add and edit content to keep the site fresh and lively.”

While the City of Houston supports the Library's basic expenses, such as salaries and materials, the Houston Public Library Foundation contributes significant funding for additional books and materials, programming, critical staff development and training, marketing and communications materials and minor refurbishment projects. Without the private funds raised by HPLF, many of the free programs the community relies upon, such as Summer Reading and resume writing classes, would not be possible.

Schipul has released Tendenci CMS as an open source product to give NPOs such as Houston Public Library Foundation greater control over their online presence. The Tendenci site automatically recognizes and accommodates mobile and tablet users by auto-resizing and formatting to the width and height of any device. Tendenci also allows administrators to manage online calendar events and registration for these events including reporting and e-mail notifications. It also features out-of-the-box search engine optimization and Web analytics integration to help maximize and track online visibility.
