What if your visitors could tell you quickly and easily how you are doing? Do you want to know?
Getting unsolicited feedback can be uncomfortable. The good news is that one solution is to always solicit feedback from site visitors. Remove all obstacles to the feedback loop.
At a tactical level this means that when someone reads an article on your site, there is a link at the top that says "rate this." And another one at the bottom that says "rate this."
Now, we do understand the need for privacy, so ratings that are submitted just go to the content owner and sometimes with a copy to the web committee. That is up to you.
What is important is allowing the users to comment. Allowing them to evaluate and tell you how you can better serve them helps you, too!
Given the fact that more and more associations are focusing on bringing the organization to the desktop and letting the membership engage on their terms, offering a rating content helps you measure the results of your desktop driven efforts.
So help us out - tell us how to improve!
