How Can I Turn On The Option To Charge For Job Postings?

You can set up your site so that people must pay in order to post job listings. This is a great way to generate revenue with your web site. You will need to check a few things in your site reflexes in order to turn on this option.

Go to the Tendenci console.

In the Admin Quick Links section, click Site Variables.
*This may take a while to load since it is retrieving the coding that runs your site.*

Since this is a very long list you will want to search through the data for keywords - The first item you are going to check is the Jobs Require Payment. To turn on the jobs feature, this value must be set to true.

Select the pencil icon beneath this item to edit.

On the next page you will need to change the value to true.

Then click the button to Submit.

The next item you are going to check is the Jobs Payment Types. This value must include credit cards.

Select the pencil icon beneath this item to edit.

On the next page you will need to add credit cards.

Then click the button to Submit.

*Note: If you are going to offer credit card as a method of payment you will need to have a Merchant Account that has been integrated with the Tendenci software. We only accept some Gateway Providers.*

How do I allow people to add Job Listings without logging in?

If you're not charging for Job Listings, you can allow users to post jobs without logging in.

To allow users to add Job Listings without having to log in, you'll need to edit the site variable that controls this,

Go to the Tendenci console.

In the Admin Quick Links section, click Site Variables.
*This may take a while to load since it is retrieving the coding that runs your site.*

Since this is a very long list you will want to search through the data for keywords - The item you are going to edit is the JobsAllowAnonymousAdd.

Then you will select the pencil icon or beneath this item.

You will be taken to the Edit page, here you will want to edit the Value, this can be done by simply typing the new value, or true.

Finally select the Update button.

Keep in mind that not requiring folks to log in to post jobs, means that anyone on the internet can post a job on your site.

Any Job Listing that's added will still require Admin Approval before the listing will appear.

How Do I Get the Fastest Response from Support?

The support team receives e-mails daily asking us questions about Tendenci and questions about our client sites. Our goal is to respond to every single e-mail in a timely manner and there are some things you can do to ensure that your support e-mails are given the proper priority and attention: Please send your e-mails to support@schipul.com: Do not send your e-mails to one person. While you may be familiar with one person on our team, there is no guarantee that this person will always be able to resolve your problem promptly. The easiest way to make sure that your e-mails are seen is to send it to support@schipul.com. This way, instead of having one person looking at your issue, youll get a whole team who is more than willing to help you out. This also lessens that likelihood that your e-mail might get lost in the junk folder. It may be sent to Junk in one persons inbox but not for another. Please be descriptive in your subject line: Always include your company name, the...

How Do I Add Users To My Usergroups?

There are several ways to bind an existing user to a user group:

Watch the helpfile video here

Option 1 - Take a single User and add it to Groups

On the Users search or view page, click the Groups () icon.

The User Groups that a User or Administrator can choose from is determined by the way the User Group is set up. See How to create a User Group for more information.

Check the Groups the User needs to be a part of.

Press Submit Changes.

Option 2 - Take a list of email addresses and add / remove them from a Group

Note - this is for administrators only.

From the Tendenci console, choose Manage Users.

Choose E) 1. Email Addresses to Groups.

Enter the email addresses of the Users to be added/removed.

The email address must reflect an existing User on the web site.

Select the User Group.

Choose to add or remove them from the User Group.

Option 3 - Add Users to a User Group based on a SQL Query

Note - this is for administrators only.

From the Tendenci console, choose Manage Users.

Choose E) 2. SQL to Groups.

Enter a SQL SELECT statement that pulls users matching certain criteria.

Select a User Group.

Click Submit.

How do I edit my sites navigation links in IE6?

Your site navigation links are those links to the left or on the top of each page of your site. *You must be logged in as a Site Administrator to change the site navigation. From the Tendenci console, choose Edit Navigation. Add new items in the Navigation text box using the format: number [anchor text ] link where number stands for the degree of levels (1 for top level, 2 for second level, and so forth), anchor text is what will show in the navigation bar, and link is a relative link to the page on your site. Example: 1 [ Client Companies ] /en/cms/?138 2 [ Technology Sectors ] /en/cms/?23 3 [ Energy ] /en/cms/?11 This means you want to add Client Companies to the top level with the link /en/cms/?138; Technology Sectors to the second level under Client Companies with the link /en/cms/?23; and Energy to the third level under Technology Sectors with the link /en/cms/?11. Click Edit Site...

What is DO-NOT-REPLY-TENDENCI@schipul.net?

When an Email notification, Contact Form Submission or Newsletter is sent from your Tendenci site, it will now have a sender address of DO-NOT-REPLY-TENDENCI@schipul.net. This email address matches the address of the mail server that is being used to process and send your emails - which looks more legitimate to other mail servers, resulting in increased deliveries. What are you talking about? Old Way: To a server, the following sample email header could look like Spam as it is sent with the senders own email address from a Tendenci sites newsletter generator (@hotmail.com vs. @schipul.net): Return-Path: mdinkleplotz@hotmail.com Sender: mdinkleplotz@hotmail.com From: Mary Dinkleplotz <mdinkleplotz@hotmail.com> Subject: My organizations newsletter! New and Improved Way: By changing the Sender path, your email will appear less suspicious as the sender address matches your Tendenci sites mail server that is being used to send the email (@schipul.net): Return-Path:...

How Do I Convert A Site User To A Site Member?

Watch this as a Video Help File (opens in a new window) or read the instructions below.

You can make existing users on your site members by:

From the Tendenci console select Search users under

From here you may search for the user you will be converting.

Once you find them select the and this will take you to the membership application.

You will be taken to the Membership Application on your site which will be populated with the data from the user that you are trying to convert.

You will be able to fill in the application to convert this user to a member.

To pay online, you need to select the payment Method of Pay Online NOW with credit card. This will take you to the merchant’s site to process your payment.

Any of the other options will mark their invoice as paid and won't take you to the online payment screen. These options are only visible if you are logged in as an admin.

From here, once you have entered all your selections - Submit Membership Application.

How do I set a page for member only access?

This is a help file on how to set up a page for member only access.

When you might need to do this?

An example of a time when you need to restrict a page on your site to members only might be:
1) Review an agenda prior to a board meeting
2) Post pictures of a member only meeting
3) Download speaker notes but you only want the membership to have the link and not the search engines.

Steps:

From the main Tendenci interface select "Content Managers" or browse to the pages of the site through the navigation.

Select edit button from the page or from the CMS search view as seen below.

Underneath the WYSIWYG editor you will see a link for Show More Options, click this.

Set the options at the bottom of the CMS page up to look like this. This appears on the Edit page near the bottom of the page.

A few of these are optional - like the log page views and show email and rating links.

Also note the one that says "Allow Member Edit" - this is helpful if you want members of your organization to be able to edit the agenda prior to a meeting. As always, the system keeps a record of each version so you can see the progression of your document content.

Sometimes it maybe a link that says Subscribe to this RSS feed - Or you may see the following standard RSS symbol: (It may not be that big, but it should stand out) Or it could very well look like one of the older RSS symbols if they havent changed their symbol to the standard: When you click on the button get to the feed URL, it will look like a whole lot of meaningless code or text: Thats okay. Dont worry about it - just copy that URL in the address bar. OR if the blog is registered with FeedBurner, the button may take you to a FeedBurner page that looks similar to the blog itself, with a FeedBurner URL: http://feeds.feedburner.com/example ...

How do I export Invoicing Accounting Entries?

If you use a third-party accounting system, you can export your Invoicing accounting entries from the Tendenci system for outside use and reconciliation.

The export format was specifically designed for import into QuickBooks. Iif you are using QuickBooks, the import process will be very smooth.

If you are using a different accounting package, the data may require some manipulation prior to import. Please check with your software vendor before importing to ensure the integrity of data.

See Exporting Accounting Entries to QuickBooks for more details.

How do I give my CMS page a better URL / display name?

Once you have created your CMS page following the instructions in How to add a page to your site using CMS, you may want to add a display page to the page. The Display Page gives you to option of having a static URL to point your site visitors to. e.g http://www.tendenci.com/tendenci/ instead of http://www.tendenci.com/en/cms/?2252 To add a display page to an existing CMS page, navigate to that page click the pencil icon to edit the page scroll down to the Show Extra Options link Type the word that you want to use as the Display Page FOLLOWING A /. e.g. gala/. Once you click Submit, the path to http://www.yourdomain.com/gala/index.asp will be created. You can now redirect your site visitors to this static page instead of http://www.yourdomain.com/en/cms/?xx. You should use caution when using this feature because if you give another page on your site the same Display Name, it will overwrite any existing pages. The original CMS page that you...

However, to better optimize your site for search engines you may want to customize the information yourself. To edit a pages Meta Information (This only allows you to make changes to CMS pages, this icon does not appear on non CMS pages ex. Articles): Go to that particular page on your site. Select the icon amongst the Tendenci icons at the bottom of that page. (Note on pages such as your homepage you should be looking at the icons that are below the main area of content. Often the Homepage will have multiple areas of editable content.) You will see a page that includes several fields of Meta information such as: Page Title - This will determine what appears on the top bar of a web browser. This is the Page Title that appears on the Tendenci site: Meta Keywords - These are words that are found on the page and would be used to search for the page. *Note if you...
