Success in these endeavors is critical in order to continue the evolution of the Securities Lending marketplace from an activity which was designed principally to support various clearance and settlement conventions, to an integral component of the industry's highly sophisticated trading and investment strategies.

 The Securities Operations Division (SOD), a division of the Securities Industry Association (SIA), provides a forum for educational and development support to members of broker/dealers, banks and investment management firms.  Since 1917, SOD has been at the helm of developments in greater efficiency and uniformity of operational practices by securities professionals, through its strengths in education and advocacy.   Equally important, SOD promotes a spirit of shared purpose, cooperation and goodwill among persons holding positions of responsibility in banking and brokerage.

SIFMA DIV is a division of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (“SIFMA”), the industry association created by the merger of the Securities Industry Association (“SIA”) and the Bond Market Association (“BMA”) in 2006. The Dividend Division, however, has been serving the broker/dealer and banking community since 1956. Originally created as the Dividend Association, the name was changed in 1961 when the SIA was formed and we became part of the greater organization.
