With the Tendenci software, you can post news and information to your site at
any time! Get the latest news on the site and available to your members using
an interface similar to the one used originally to compose the Article or Press
Release.
Articles and Releases work the same way in the software, except that the
Release Date controls when Press Releases become visible to your site visitors.
For Articles, it simply controls the sort order. Articles and Releases are
listed in reverse order of posting, with the latest news listed at the top of
the page.
Articles and Releases can (and should be) categorized for better SEM and
easier search functions within your database. You can also design your site so
that "featured" Articles show up on the home page of your site.
Another benefit of adding Articles and Releases to your site throughout the
month is that these can be automatically pulled to your Newsletters, removing
the need to rekey this information!
Adding an Article or Press Release
Like Jobs, any registered Site
User can post an Article or Press Release to your site in Pending Approval
status. One or more designated Site Admins will receive an email with options to
view/edit and approve/delete the Article or Release. This process removes many
of the barriers typically in place when adding new content to the site.
Encourage your members to post items of interest. A site that is constantly
adding new content ranks higher in the search engines and provides more benefit
to the other site users.
When posting, you can:
- add contact information so that readers can directly contact the author for
more information
- add a "rate this" link so your readers can evaluate the usefulness of the
Article
- upload photos or supplemental documents (How to upload a file to an Article)
Approving an Article for Release
When the Article is added, an
email is sent to a designated Site Administrator with a link to view and another
to approve the Article. Who receives this email is designated in the Site
Constants list.
Admins should review the Article and correct any errors before approving.
Once the Article or Release has been approved, it will publicly display on the
site.
